My Journey to Becoming a Home Organizer

When I was in high school, I wanted to be a social worker and work one-on-one with people, but my parents, who were paying for college, wanted me to focus on a more profitable career and steered me towards accounting. While at Boston College I really appreciated the “men and women for others” ideals and spent my spring breaks volunteering around the country. After a year serving underprivileged populations in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, I started a 20+ year career in both corporate and nonprofit roles, first in the accounting field and then finally in HR.

Early in my career, I remember being mesmerized by the show Clean Sweep with Peter Walsh on TLC, and looked into being a professional organizer then, but decided the timing wasn’t right. Then the pandemic hit and my perspective on so many things changed. After some soul searching walks and long days on zoom calls, I decided that I wanted to move on from my remote corporate position and pursue a new career in professional organizing based in my NJ community. I took courses, practiced with friends, and decided to make this dream my new reality.

Being a professional organizer allows me to combine my organization skills with my desire to help others - the perfect combination of my childhood dreams and experience. It also allows me a wonderfully flexible schedule to spend more time with my children as they move through their middle and high school years and to get more involved in my local Northern New Jersey community.

I look forward to working with you someday as we clear the clutter and bring more clarity into your life.
